Admin users in Synergita can configure financial periods to align OKRs with organizational financial cycles. This configuration allows users to set OKR timelines based on predefined quarters (e.g., Q1, Q2) or custom dates.
Navigate to the OKR Admin Page
- Navigate to OKR Admin button on the left navigation pane.
- Click on Configuration page in OKR Admin.
Access the Financial Period Settings
In the Configuration page, you will find a section labeled “Define Financial Period". This section allows you to select how the OKR periods are defined across your organization.
Period Selection
The section contains two radio button options:
- Standard: Select this option to use predefined financial quarters (e.g., Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) for managing OKRs.
- Custom Dates: Select this option to allow users to define specific start and end dates for OKRs.
By default, Standard is selected for new users.
Configure Financial Year
If Custom Dates is selected, there are no further additional settings. All the dates in the OKR product depend on Start Dates and End Date.
If Standard is selected, additional settings will appear:
- Select Financial Year: A dropdown will allow you to choose between:
- January - December
- April - March
- Below the dropdown, a table will display the quarters for the selected financial year. For example:
Name Year Start Date End Date Q1 2024 1-Jan-2024 31-Mar-2024 Q2 2024 1-Apr-2024 30-Jun-2024 Q3 2024 1-Jul-2024 30-Sep-2024 Q4 2024 1-Oct-2024 31-Dec-2024
Issues When Changing Financial Periods or Types
Changing financial periods or switching between Standard (Quarters) and Custom Dates can impact existing OKRs in the following ways:
- Switching from Custom Dates to Standard (Quarters):
If OKRs were created using specific start and end dates, switching to quarters will align the OKRs to the nearest quarters. For example:
- If an OKR has a date range of 4-Feb-2024 to 8-Jul-2024 (Custom Dates) and the financial year is January-December, the system will align it to Q1 2024 – Q3 2024.
- Switching from Standard (Quarters) to Custom Dates:
If OKRs were created using quarters, switching to custom dates will adjust the OKRs to specific dates based on the quarter range. For example:
- If an OKR is set to Q1 2024 – Q3 2024, it will be converted to 1-Jan-2024 to 30-Sep-2024 when switched to custom dates.
- Changing Financial Year:
If the financial year format is changed (e.g., from January-December to April-March), the quarters will shift accordingly. For example:
- If an OKR is set to Q1 2024 in a January-December financial year, it will become Q4 2023 in an April-March financial year.
Admins should carefully review existing OKRs before making changes to the financial period settings to avoid any unintended adjustments.
Once the financial period is configured, click the Save button to apply the changes. The updated financial periods will now be reflected across all relevant sections of the product, including the Dashboard, Objective pages, Reports, and Hierarchy Tree.
