What is HiPo Rating?

Synergita's HiPo Rating is calculated based on the three characteristics: Performance, Potential and Critical score of the employee. This allows the HR or the Manager to identify the best talent and find a way to actually utilize their talents.



How to setup HiPo Rating in the System?


Grade Scale:

Human Resource (HR) Administrator can add/ Modify this grade scale from the Tenant administration --> Manage Grade scales page.


Click on the "Manage Grade Scales" in the Tenant administration page will take you to the following page



The HR Administrator has to add two new Grade scales for this HiPo activity. The two grade scales are "Potential Scale" and "Critical Scale".


In order to add a grade scale, you have to fill all the columns that are provided in the "Manage Grade Scales" page. The following are the fields that are available.

  • Grade Scale Name: The name of the scale as must be provided..
  • Number of Divisions: The number of divisions in the grade scale has to be set here. This number of divisions set here will be displayed in the Potential scale and Critical scale as drop-down values.
    • Example: If you give the number of division as 5, then in the "Potential scale" drop down the values from 1 to 5 will be displayed.


Here you can provide,

Text Value: 

You can provide a text value that will indicate the level of performance demonstrated (score). Example: Good, Very Good


Numerical Value: 

You can provide a numerical value with respect to the level of performance demonstrated. Example: 2- Good, 3- Very good


Rating Guidelines: 

Refers to the definition of the competency demonstrated.


By the same method the "Critical scale" must be created.


HiPo score calculation logic:


The HR Administrator can configure the weightage to be assigned in calculating the HiPo score here. The weightage for the Average performance score, Potential score and Critical score can be configured here.


HR Administrator can modify the business rule from  the Tenant administration --> Business rule page. The business rule page will be as shown below.




Clicking on the Edit icon across the "Performance Potential& Critical score calculation" will take you the following page. In this page you can configure the weightages to calculate the HiPo score.



You have to enter the weightages for the across different parameters given in the drop down. The sum of the weightages must be equal to 100%.

Based on the weightages entered here for  "Average performance score, Potential Rating, Critical Rating" the HiPo score will be automatically calculated by the system.


Add: Clicking on Add will allow to add one more parameter to configure the weightage


Click Save to save the business rule.


The HiPo Rating has been successfully set in the system.



How to Provide HiPo Rating?


This Activity enables the manager to provide the Potential and Critical score to generate the HiPo Score. 

This HiPo Rating is based on different weightages assigned for the Average performance score, Potential score and Critical score.


Click on the "My Dashboard" link to navigate to the Dashboard page.

The Pending activities widget will display all the pending activities.


















Click on the “Provide Performance Potential and Critical Rating” will take to the Provide Performance Potential & Critical rating” page of the employee.

“Provide Performance Potential and Critical Rating” can also be access from the “Performance --> My action items”.


















Clicking on the “Provide Performance Potential and Critical Rating” will take you to the following page.



The “Provide Performance Potential and Critical Rating” form is as shown in the image above. The form will have the Recommendation form fields and the “Performance potential and critical” form fields.


The user has to provide the Potential rating, Critical rating and the “Performance Potential and Critical Rating” rating will be automatically calculated and displayed based on the weightages assigned for each fields. The rating is calculated based on the average performance score, Potential score and Critical score.


To save the Activity, Click on the Save button.


To submit the activity, Click on the Submit button.


The users can also Provide Bulk rating by navigating to the “Performance --> Performance potential and Critical rating”. This enables the user to provide “Provide Performance Potential and Critical Rating” to the employees in bulk and submit rating.

The user can choose the employees and provide the Potential & Critical rating and arrive at the “Provide Performance Potential and Critical Rating”. The Performance Potential and Critical Rating page will be as shown below



The user can also import the potential and Critical score by downloading the excel template. This can be done by clicking on the “Import Potential & Critical score” link in the Employee list section.

Once the employee list is filtered, the Manager can provide the Potential score, Critical score and the Overall potential critical score will be automatically calculated and displayed in the grid.


Save All: To save the provided scores for the records, Click on the “Save All” button.


Submit All: Once the scores are provided for the records, the Manager can Submit all the records by clicking on the “Submit all” button
