Employees can create objectives for themselves. Some organizations may want the managers / any other designated employees to create objectives for the reporting employees or peers. This article explains in detail how the Reporting manager or any employee with this privilege can create the objectives on behalf of other employees. Follow the below-listed steps to create Other Objectives.

 

Access Individual Objectives

  • Click on Individual Objectives in the left navigation menu to access the Individual objectives page.



There are two tabs listed under "Individual Objectives :

  • My Objectives
  • Objectives assigned to others



Fill in the Required Information

  • Click on "Other Objectives" tab. This will lead to the "Other Objectives" page.  Click on the "+" icon to create new objective.
  • The Individual Objective creation page presents various fields that require information. Ensure to provide the following details:


   Objective Name - Type in the name of your objective..

        Start date and due date- Select the start date and due date for monitoring the OKR's progress or accomplishing the set objective using the date picker.

        Tag - Use this function to classify OKRs and facilitate easy reference. Click on the Tags field, choose from the options, and add custom tags by typing and pressing enter. You can add a maximum of 3 tags for an objective.


    

        Owned By Begin typing an employee's name to see matching results from your company's directory. You can either select a name from the dropdown or click on View Directory. The directory popup showcases employees, their designations, and an action column with a Choose button. Use this to assign the objective's owner.



        Define Key Result - Key results are specific, time-bound, realistic and measurable outcomes that  drive the individuals for achieving their set objectives  

        Click on the Add Key results button to add the key results one by one. 



        Enter Key Result: Enter key results in texts that help achieve the main objective (max 2000 characters). E.g: Increase lead count to 100

        Measure By: Determines how you'll measure the Key Result, choosing from "Number", "Text", or "Boolean".

        Number - This is a number-based target. Boolean - Completed/Not-completed type of targets (Complete $100,000 value of Sales).

        Text - The targets, which are not based on the number and Boolean fall into this type.

        Unit: Select a unit of measurement. Options include "#", "%", "$", "R", "₹", "£". If these don't suit, choose "Custom". This opens a popup where you can input a unique symbol or text. You can then determine its placement relative to numbers, using the "Show before number" or "Show after number" radio buttons.



        Type: This dictates the nature of the Key Results. Options are: "Equal to", "Should decrease to", "Should increase to", "Should stay above", and "Should stay below".

        Target Value: Based on the unit chosen, input the desired value for this Key Result.

        Additional Box (Based on Type):

        If "Should decrease to" or "Should increase to" is selected as Target Type, an additional "Start Value" box appears.

        Assign as Objective: Selecting this checkbox enables cascading the Key result into an objective for another user. The cascaded objective will be an individual objective by default. Selecting the checkbox displays another option.

  •       Choose Owner Field: Text input to specify the owner of the cascaded objective. You can type and select the owner, or click on View Directory button.

        Buttons: Three actions can be taken after defining the Key Result:

        Delete: Removes the Key Result.

        Clear: Resets the entered values.

        Save KR: Saves the current Key Result. Saved Key Result can be edited or deleted later.



        Weightages (Optional): Assign weightage to each key result to define their varied contribution to achieving the objective. Click the "Enable Weightage" toggle button to enable this feature. Ensure the total weightage of all Key Results equals 100%.


 

  • Progress CalculationThe progress calculation for the objectives aligned to this objective can either use only the key results or use both key results and contributors 
  • Initiatives: Assign weightage to each key result to define their varied contribution to achieving the objective. Click the Enable Weightage toggle button to enable this feature. Ensure the total weightage of all Key Results equals 100%.
  • Align Objective: Click the Align button and choose a parent objective to align your objective with. It can only be aligned with other company objectives.


Step 4: Save or Cancel the Objective

Finally, after filling all the fields you can choose to  , - Cancel, Save as Draft, and Submit the objective

        Cancel: You can exit without creating the objective

        Save as Draft: Retain your objective  as draft to be submitted later.

        Submit: Submit and publish your  the objective.

 

Step 5: Send for approval

        In Configuration >> OKR Configuration, if the toggle for Enable Approval is turned on for creating individual objectives, then the objective cannot be submitted directly.

        When this is enabled, then the submit button becomes Send for Approval.



         Click Send for approval and the objective will be sent to approval to either the Aligned objective owner or Reporting Manager depending on the configuration.

        Only after their approval, the objective will be created and published.
