GRADE SCALE IN SYNERGITA
The Grade Scale is used to rate or assess employee goals and competencies during performance reviews. As a Synergita administrator, you can create and edit grade scales, which can then be mapped to goals or competencies in Master feedback forms.
Creating a New Grade Scale
Follow these steps to create a new grade scale:
1. Navigate to: Admin > Admin.
2. Under Performance, click Grade Scales.
3. In the Add Grade Scale section, provide the following details:
- Name: Enter a unique name for the grade scale (e.g., 2-point scale, 3-point scale, 5-point scale).
- Scale Type: Choose Fixed or Floating.
Fixed Grade Scale:
- Uses whole numbers (e.g., 1, 2, 3).
- Specify the number of grade divisions, assign text values and short codes for each, define numerical grade points, and optionally add display text for rating guidelines in the review form.
- Example: A 3-point scale may have 1 as the lowest grade and 3 as the highest.
Floating Grade Scale:
- Allows decimal values (e.g., 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0).
- Specify the minimum and maximum numerical grade points and the increment/step value.
- Display texts cannot be defined; only the numbers appear in the review form.
- Example: A 1–5 scale with 0.5 increments will display 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, etc., on the rating slider.
Increment Interval Validation:
- In the feedback form grid, the increment interval between assigned range values is shown.
- If an employee enters a value that does not match the defined increment, a pop-up will instruct them to select a valid value within the interval.
Set as Default Attribute Grade:
- Enable this option to automatically assign this grade scale to new goals or attributes during the goal-setting process.
Set as Default:
- Enable this to use the grade scale for overall score calculation.
- Example: For a 3-point scale, the overall score will be calculated out of 3.
Number of Divisions:
- Defines the levels within a grade scale. Each division represents a rating point, helping categorize employee performance clearly (e.g., 1–3 for low to high performance).
Note: You cannot edit a grade scale that is currently in use during an ongoing Goal Setting/feedback cycle. Changes can only be made after the cycles are closed and before initiating the next year’s goal-setting process. |
